Visited here after a recommendation that it was a “Harry Potter” themed bar.. it is not. However it was still a fun experience. The potion cocktails were really nice. The staff were polite and friendly and advised we go up stairs and view all the decor. There are hanging body bags from the ceiling with blood (not something you’d seen in HP films), death masks, voodoo dolls it’s more macabre than anything else. But I haven’t ever been or experienced anywhere else like this! The cocktails were good! And presented nicely the cakes were really cute and amazing detail , didn’t try any of the food but did enjoy all the weird and wonderful quirks of the bar. You get a voucher on entry and then that comes off the total of the bill.

Mad Hog Tavern is a fascinating location (even for a non Harry Potter fan) The main reason for coming here is the magnificent decoration. It is clear that a length of time and effort has gone into decorating the venue. The drinks, foods, and vibe are all very Harry pottery. Tried the butter brew (it is very buttery), interesting drink you will not find elsewhere. Also tried the chocolate popcorn shake and the red velvet cake and they were adequate. Suffice to say that you don’t come here for the quality of the food, rather the great decor and good vibes! Worth a visit 100%
Visited last month (Jan 2026) Liked their specials, the butterbrew and the popcorn chocolate frappe (both on the sweeter side). Pizza was decent. Loved the apple crumble, but the forbidden forest cake was kinda stale and not the best. Menu has a lot of variety (Thai and Western food), and while it is expensive, the price is to be expected for the touristic location/fairly reasonable. ฿200 per person fee must be paid at the door, but you can use that 200 as a voucher to pay for food once you’re inside. Understandable it had to be implemented, otherwise people would stroll in, snap free photos, and leave. Attention to detail is amazing, although it is so dark you can’t really take good photos, and I found out the hard way that turning on flash may accidentally blind the room (sorry). It’s a bit too narrow, but the decor is great. Exceeds expectations for themed cafés. Besides the HP stuff, the second floor was a Pirates of the Caribbean work in progress when I was there.
Mad Hog Tavern in Phuket is one of those places you visit as much for the atmosphere as for the food. It’s very much a Harry Potter–inspired (Diagon Alley–style) venue, mixed with an Eastern, witchy aesthetic that feels slightly creepy—in a fun way. The result is a highly Instagrammable and photogenic space, perfect for anyone who enjoys themed cafés or unique visual concepts. To enter, you purchase an entrance ticket for 200 baht, which can be fully used toward food and beverages. I think this is a fair system, especially considering the effort put into the decor and overall experience. For drinks, they offer Butterbeer, available in both virgin and alcoholic versions. If you’re curious, it’s definitely worth trying—it adds to the whole fantasy vibe of the place. Food-wise, I ordered the pasta, and it was actually really good—better than expected and properly executed. On the other hand, the pizza was just okay. Not bad, but nothing memorable, and something you could easily skip. I didn’t try the cakes, but I have to say—they are super cute and beautifully decorated. Even just seeing them on display adds to the charm of the place. Overall, Mad Hog Tavern is a fun, creative spot that’s great for photos, casual dining, and experiencing something a little different in Phuket. Come for the atmosphere, try the butterbeer and pasta, and enjoy the fantasy world they’ve built.
Even as a non-Harry Potter fan (!!!) I have to admit that this place is worth a visit. The detail put into this place is simply amazing and the upstairs room in the back simply forces you to sit down and have a chat with your friends over an admittedly delicious Butter Bear (non-alcoholic or with). The whole thing makes you feel like you’re on a HP film set. The food was pricey, but as you have to pay 200 THB entrance fee anyways it’s actually not that bad and very yummy. I wish they had named the food creatively though as well, not just the cocktails.
